Dry Body Brushing has been around for many years as an Ayurvedic Therapy to support your body’s own detox mechanism by stimulating the movement of the lymph system.

Dry Body Brushing is when you dry brush your body with a soft-bristled brush with no oil or liquid. Your lymphatic system is a circulatory system which when functioning optimally helps to drain toxins and immune molecules out of your extracellular matrix. However, it is all too common to get stagnant by today’s lifestyle of processed foods, stress, and lack of movement. Detoxing is a must if your toxic load gets too high. Dry Skin Brushing is a great adjunct when detoxing. To find out more about detoxing go to Dragonfly’s Detox page !

DID YOU KNOW

One-third of your body’s toxins are excreted through the skin.

When you dry skin brush

  • You are helping to unclog pores and prevent toxins from getting trapped in your skin

  • You are supporting your body’s immune system.

  • Dry brushing minimizes Cellulite

  • It also has an appealing effect on the condition of our skin making it more supple and younger-looking.

How To Dry Skin Brush:

1. Ensure you use a bristle brush with natural fibers and a long handle so can reach all hard-to-reach areas of your body, like the middle of your back

2. Get naked and begin brushing by starting at your feet and moving in long sweeping motions toward your heart. The key thing to remember is to always brush toward your heart.

3. Similarly, when you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work upward. Use firm, small strokes upward, or work in a circular motion.

4. Brush several times in each area, overlapping areas as you go. As you brush over more sensitive areas, like breasts, thighs, and your stomach, you may lighten the pressure.

5. Your skin will become less sensitive the more you dry brush. Any kind of brushing or exfoliation should be gentle and should never break the skin .

6. Once you've brushed your entire body, jump in the shower. If you really want to maximize circulatory function alternating between hot and cold water is great and immune-boosting.
